Research highlights

My research is centered on deciphering pathogenesis of immunological disorders and on developing novel immune therapeutics. Autoimmune diseases, cancer immunotherapy, and vaccines are current topics. The central theme of our research is aimed to provide useful solutions for unmet medical needs. To be more specific on our works, the inhibitory receptors, e.g. FcγRIIB and PD-1, on B cells and T cells, are my long-term research interests. We investigate the fundamental aspects of immunology, e.g. germinal center reaction, as well as the molecular mechanisms of immune dysfunction, e.g. immune exhaustion. To better address the research questions, we not only used the existing animal models but also generated our own genetically modified mice for in-depth translational and preclinical studies. In addition, the antibody drug development and antibody engineering are works in progress in the laboratory. With the experimental systems we have developed, we also wish to extend our research interests to other important diseases and unsolved problems, e.g. emerging infectious diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, antibody drug delivery and so forth.
